Outlook: Bowling Green followed up its four-game losing streak in late February with a four-game winning streak in early March. The Lady Purples are peaking at just the right time as the postseason draws near. Coach Calvin Head got solid production from his backcourt in Week 9 as Tanaya Bailey scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds against Graves County. Senior Kiyah Gray scored ten big points in the Lady Purples’ upset victory over Bardstown. Bowling Green closes its regular season in Franklin on Tuesday.

2. Barren County                        13-7                    1

Outlook: Barren County lost its grip on the #1 ranking in the 4th Region but will still be a favorite to take home the crown in a couple of weeks at Diddle Arena. Raven Ennis scored 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a blowout win over Caverna on March 5. The Trojanettes travel to Grayson County on Tuesday, and host Central Hardin on Thursday, before hosting the 15th District Tournament next week. Barren will play Allen County-Scottsville in the semifinals on Tuesday, March 16 at 5:30pm with a chance to qualify for the region tournament.

3. Warren Central                      9-6                      3

Outlook: Warren Central went 3-0 in Week 9 to pick up its fourth-consecutive victory. The Lady Dragons won each of the three games by an average of 15 points. Kaylyn Keener has become a reliable second scoring option in the absence of La Auhnni Lewis from the lineup. 4. Franklin-Simpson                  11-6                    5

Outlook: The Lady Wildcats picked up two more wins over Monroe County and Todd County Central to move to 11-6 and clinch the #1 seed in the upcoming 13th District Tournament. A few weeks ago, we noted that sophomore Hadley Turner had become a solid third scoring option behind the duo of Kate Norwood and Alera Barbee. However, Turner has solidified herself as a nightly threat as evidenced by her 20-point performance against Monroe County and 15-point, 10-rebound effort against the Lady Rebels. Coach Ashley Taylor’s club will host Bowling Green in the regular season finale on Tuesaday night.

The Lady Gators lost at Metcalfe County but rebounded to pick up an impressive win over Russell County. The most impressive result of the week may have been a ten-point loss at state-#1 Elizabethtown. The Lady Panthers are undefeated and the favorite to win the state title. Sophie Shearer has continued to cement herself as a solid third option, scoring 14 points in a five-point loss at Greenwood on Thursday.
