Preview
Desperation will be in the air on Friday night at Joe Hood Field when the Wildcats of Franklin come to Bowling Green to take on the Dragons of Warren Central. Both teams are winless and are in danger of missing the playoffs. Franklin-Simpson has two district games left, while Central is playing in its final district contest. Senior Malik Carter has led the Wildcats this season with 218 yards on 54 carries and two scores. Kyjuan Stutzman has been quarterback Luke Richardson’s top target with seven catches for 146 yards and a receiving touchdown. Defensively, the Wildcats are one of the best teams against the pass in Class 4A. Freshman Isaiah Rigsby is tied for seventh in 4A with two interceptions, while F-S is only allowing 56 passing yards per game – sixth in 4A.
Coach Cary Fowler’s Dragons have been led by quarterback Jace Carver. The senior already has over 500 total yards, with 336 through the air and 196 on the ground. Wide receiver Omari Glover is ranked 13th in 4A in receptions with 12, and he is ranked 21st in yards with 212 on the year. On defense, TySeam Day is ranked fourth overall in 4A with 46 tackles. The junior has 35 solo tackles and three tackles for losses.
Prediction
Franklin-Simpson 30, Warren Central 24
Franklin will get its first win in the Max Chaney Era with a big game behind Malik Carter. I predict the running back will run for over 75 yards and a touchdown. I expect Isaiah Rigsby to add to his interception total, one coming near the end of the game with the Dragons looking to cut into the Wildcats lead. As for the Dragons, I predict TySeam Day will tally double-digit tackles and for Omari Glover to add to his reception total.
