A handful of Region 4 boys’ basketball teams highlight the State Farm Shootout on Saturday at South Warren High School.
Warren East, Bowling Green, Warren Central, South Warren and Franklin-Simpson all meet different opponents in a five-game event sponsored by Bowling Green State Farm agents.
The slate of contests gets underway at Noon with Warren East taking on Shelby County.
Warren Central-Hopkinsville follows the opener at 2 p.m. with Franklin-Simpson vs. Owensboro Catholic and former Warren Central coach Tim Riley coming after that game at 4 p.m.
At 6 p.m., the most intriguing matchup of the evening featuring Bowling Green and Paul Laurence Dunbar tips off. The Purples are ranked No. 3 in the Kentucky Associated Press Top 10 while the Bulldogs are No. 8.
Dunbar, led by Western Kentucky signee Taveion Hollingsworth who is the favorite to win Kentucky Mr. Basketball, defeated BG 57-51 in the 2016 Sweet Sixteen at Rupp Arena on its way to the state title.
South Warren vs. Marshall County tips at 8 p.m., wrapping up the annual shootout.
