The Sporting Times All-Region Midseason Watchlist

The Sporting Times has named its All-Region Midseason Watchlist for the 2021 girls’ basketball season. 25 players were named to the list for outstanding performances on the hardwood over the course of the first half of the season. The Sporting Times will name its All-Region Teams at the conclusion of the season. A player does not have to appear on the Midseason Watchlist to make it onto the All-Region Teams at the end of the season.

The 13th District placed six players on the list. Franklin-Simpson’s Kate Norwood and Alera Barbee were both named to the midseason watchlist. Norwood is averaging a district-high 15.3 points per game and has nailed 20 three-pointers. Barbee is averaging 12.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest. Russellville also placed two players on the list – junior Anastasia Dowlen and sophomore Amiyah Collier. Dowlen is averaging a double-double at 14.3 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. Collier is just behind her teammate at 14.2 points per night. Gracie Borders of Logan County and Lucy Chester of Todd County Central also have been honored. Borders is averaging 10.9 points and 6.2 rebounds, while also hitting 17 three-pointers this year. Chester leads the Lady Rebels at 12.3 points and 10.1 rebounds a game.

Franklin-Simpson’s Alera Barbee

The 14th District has one more team than the other three districts and it placed ten players on the midseason list. Greenwood’s Leia Trinh leads the 4th Region in scoring at 20 points per game and her teammate, senior Jacqueline Jackson, is just behind her at 18.8 points per game. Lady Gator sophomore Kayla Grant also made the list as she is averaging 10.7 points on 57% shooting, while grabbing a team-best 7.9 rebounds per game. Bowling Green’s LynKaylah James and Meadow Tisdale were featured as well. The junior James is averaging 17.2 points per game on 54% shooting, while grabbing nine rebounds per game. Tisdale – a sophomore – is scoring 13.3 points per game and 9.6 rebounds.

Warren East’s Lucy Patterson is having a sensational senior season as the guard is averaging 19.5 points per game, while snagging 9.1 rebounds as well. She has already shot over 100 free throws and is right at 70%. Warren Central features two players on the list – sophomore Saniyah Shelton and senior La Auhnni Lewis. Shelton is averaging 17.6 points and 10.6 rebounds to lead the Lady Dragons. Lewis is averaging 10.6 points per game. South Warren rounds out the 14th District squads with two players – Karson Deaton and Gracie Hodges – making the list. Deaton is averaging 10.7 points while shooting 74% from the charity stripe. Hodges is averaging 10 points per game and leads the team at 5.4 rebounds.

Warren East’s Lucy Patterson

The 15th District placed four players – one from each team – on the midseason watchlist. Barren County has been incredibly balanced in 2021 but the Trojanettes are led by Raven Ennis. The junior is scoring 16.4 points per game and grabbing 5.9 rebounds a night. She has also hit 26 three-pointers. Glasgow’s Anzley Adwell has put together a strong case as well, averaging 15 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. The Lady Patriots of Allen County-Scottsville were represented by Allison Meador. The senior is averaging 14.8 points per game. Monroe County’s Paisley Ford also made the watchlist, leading the team in scoring (12.2 points) and free throw percentage (79.2%).

Barren County’s Raven Ennis

This brings us to the 16th District, where six players have been named to the watchlist. Clinton County’s Braylee Mann was honored as she is averaging a team-high 14.6 points on 45.5% shooting. The senior is also making 76.4% of her free throws and grabbing 5.3 rebounds per game. Russell County’s Juliah Bault made the list, as she leads the Lady Lakers in scoring at 13.6 points per game. Teammate Star Marcum also was honored after averaging 11 points and a team-best 6.1 rebounds to lead the team. Kassady London and Jaycie Harper feature on this watchlist from Metcalfe County. London is averaging 13.7 points on 52% shooting, while Harper is scoring 12.3 points per game and recording a team-best 5.4 rebounds per contest.
