South Warren played its last regular season home game last Friday, as the Spartans romped to a 42-11 victory over 5A district rival Greenwood.
But Coach Brandon Smith knows the road will not get any easier for his Spartans, whom are currently undefeated and making a push towards their second state title.
“It’s only going to get harder from here,” said Smith after last week’s win over Greenwood. “We have to come ready to play each and every week.”
The final leg of the Spartans’ regular season journey begins Friday night when South Warren (7-0) travels to the Nashville suburb of Brentwood to face Ravenwood High School.
The Raptors (5-2) are currently the third-best team in their region, and they are position to secure the top seed come playoff time. Ravenwood lost both of its games by three points against Centennial (3-4) at home and Father Ryan (3-4) on the road.
South Warren is 1-1 all-time versus Tennessee opponents, splitting a pair of games with Pope John Paul II (Hendersonville). The Spartans lost to the Knights, 56-42, on the road last season, and South Warren will be looking to leave the Volunteer State with a win for the first time on Friday night.
Kickoff between the Spartans and Raptors is slated for 7 p.m. CT at Ravenwood High School. If you can’t make the trip down to Brentwood, then listen to the game at STBNTV.com.
