WARREN EAST’S Forrester and Patterson PROPEL LADY RAIDERS TO VICTORY

WARREN EAST GIRLS 45, SOUTH WARREN 36

Warren East seniors Caroline Forrester and Lucy Patterson were simply too much for South Warren in KHSAA 14th District quarterfinal play, and their strong inside game carried the Lady Raiders to a hard-fought 45-36 victory.

Warren East coach Jenny Neville knows Forrester and Patterson can carry her team in the clutch. The 5-foot-9 Patterson, who will play next season at Lindsey Wilson College, led the way with 19 points and 12 rebounds.
Forrester clogged the lane on defense and finished with 14 points and a team-high 18 rebounds. Warren East improved to 9-13 on the season and will face host school Bowling Green at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

“The last two, three weeks, Caroline and Lucy have taken their roles with the team and run with it,” Neville said. “They’ll create a mismatch near the basket and wanted to get the ball to Caroline and Lucy.”

Forrester said she’s looking forward to playing Bowling Green, after two decisive losses to the Lady Purples (13-10) during regular-season play. South Warren finishes its season at 10-12.

“We kept our composure and really worked well as a team tonight,” Forrester said. “(South) is always going to be a tough team to play. We knew it was going to be a tough matchup.”

Meagan Kitchens led South Warren with 11 points and teammate Mila Monrath added 7.
