Warren Central’s CPB Hits Last Second Shot to Beat Elizabethtown, Win Streak Extends to 12

_MG_4637The Dragons (18-4) traveled north about an hour to take on the Elizabethtown Panthers (18-6) in a tune up for the postseason as coach Unseld called it and it was a good one from the start. Warren Central fell behind early but fought back behind the three pointers from Robert Edwards and the tough interior play by Chris Amos to trail 18-16 after 1.
The 2nd quarter was more of the same as each team was knocking down shots despite tough defense. Nic McDonald paced Etown with 14 in the first half.
The second half was similar, with the largest lead being 5 for either team. Chris Porter-Bunton was quiet all night long until the 4th quarter and then he stepped up big time. Harding was limited for Etown as he picked up his fourth foul in the third and had to sit for a long time as he had began to score in the second half. Cotton hit two free throws with 7.8 seconds remaining to give the Panthers the lead. CPB took a pass at the top of the key and drove to the right block, laying it up off the glass to score as time expired giving the Dragons a hard fought and impressive victory. Coach Unseld was very proud and pleased with his teams fight and will to win and it showed after the game.
Scoring:
Warren Central
Edwards – 14
Carver – 10
Baird – 9
Amos – 9
