About Dominique Yates:
A Western Kentucky graduate and native of Muhlenberg County, Yates worked six years at WBKO-TV in Bowling Green. There, he covered stories like the hiring of former Hilltoppers coaches Jeff Brohm and Mike Sanford, multiple high school state championships and numerous Cards and Wildcats sporting events.
“The Courier Journal has a rich tradition and is known for always having a strong sports department,” Yates said. “I wanted to have an opportunity to grow in this profession and the chance to cover the Power Five conferences – the ACC, the SEC and the Big Ten.”
Yates’ own athletic prowess didn’t get him to the collegiate level, but he eagerly boasts of his ability as a pulling guard for the Muhlenberg County Mustangs. His sports hero is the late Stuart Scott of ESPN and Booyah! fame.
“He’s baddest man to ever sit behind an anchor desk,” Yates says of Scott.
Yates holds Muhammad Ali in highest esteem.
Here at the Courier Journal, Yates fits right in.
