Six teams in The Sporting Times’ coverage area are now 2-0 on their respected 2017 football seasons after recording Week 2 wins over the weekend.
In Class 2A, Glasgow earned a 48-9 win over Bardstown while Edmonson County (3A) defeated Butler County 42-13 to remain perfect. At the 4A level, the area has four teams with clean records, as South Warren, Warren East, Logan County and Allen County-Scottsville have all yet to lose a game.

CITIZENS FIRST BOWL
The four high schools that make up Warren County played in the inaugural Citizens First Bowl at Western Kentucky University’s Houchens-Smith Stadium on Saturday, as South Warren and Warren Central met and Greenwood played host to Warren East in the nightcap.
South Warren scored five touchdowns in the first quarter alone to lead 36-0 after one and force the KHSAA state mandated running clock early. Warren Central’s lone score of the game came on a 18-yard keeper by quarterback Jamale Barber, as it fell 43-6. The Dragons are now 0-2 on the season.
Quarterback Gavin Spurrier threw a touchdown pass and rushed for one for the Spartans (2-0) while wide receiver Clayton Bush recorded two touchdowns on the day. Running back Christian Winn also ran for a TD.

In the nightcap, Warren East and Greenwood traded scoring drives all throughout the contest, but the Raiders (2-0) scored the final 16 points of the game. The Gators (1-1) led 31-21 at the 4:09 mark of the third quarter, but East rallied to score a pair of touchdowns and earn two points on a safety to cap their comeback.
Wide receiver Caleb Huskey caught two passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns to go along with a 92-yard kickoff return while running back Thomas Maxey rushed for 150 yards and a score. Additionally, quarterback Dwayne Cook threw for 130 yards and a pair of TDs while running back Trevor Naftel rushed for 187 yards and a score.
Warren East is now 2-0 for the first time since 2012.
Greenwood (1-1) was led by Jackson Adams, who rushed for 218 yards and three touchdowns and also threw for 19 yards. Running back Triston Wilson recorded 162 yards and a touchdown.

BOWLING GREEN STUNNED BY PRP
For the first time since Sept. 4, 2015, the Bowling Green High School football suffered a defeat on Friday in a stunning 35-21 loss at Pleasure Ridge Park in Louisville.
The Purples (1-1) sported a state-best 28-game winning streak entering the road test.
Wide receiver Ziyon Kenner returned the opening kickoff yards to give BG an early 7-0 lead, but the Purples were controlled by PRP for much of the night after the score.
Bowling Green quarterback Beau Buchanan completed 14-of-25 passes for 118 yards and a touchdown while wide receiver Nash Hightower caught six passes for 62 yards and a score. Running back Vito Tisdale ran for 53 yards and a TD on 14 carries.
The Purples have won back-to-back Class 5A state championships.
