Week #2 Word on the Street Featured Match-up Greenwood vs. ACS

Greenwood 1-0 vs. AC-Scottsville 0-1

The Greenwood Gators travel to Allen County to take on the Patriots in week two. The Gators got off to a great start by defeating Warren East 39-7. Jr. Running back Willie Reynolds, who transferred from Warren East to Greenwood last year, made his presence felt rushing for 146 yards and 2 TD’s. Sr. WR Malcolm Johnson, a strong runner that punishes defenders on contact, also led the Gators on defense in tackles with 13. Last but not least, Jackson Adams who runs the veer offense to perfection. The combination of all three Gator players will challenge any defense to keep them out of their end zone.

The Patriots in week one took on 6A Daviess County, losing to the Panthers 20-12. The Patriots had opportunities to win the game, but turnovers doomed their efforts late in the game. The bright side for the traditional running team is that they have gone to the air. Jr. QB Chase Wilson had an excellent first outing passing for over 325 yards with just one pick.

Word on the Street: Home opener for the Patriots, 12th man fan base that is one of the best around, new passing attack, and early concerns from Greenwood’s head coach Chris Seabolt on the strength of their secondary could make this an interesting game.  Unfortunately, last season, the Patriots gave up 348 yards rushing to the Gators in a 38-18 loss. This season, the Gators have added speedster Reynolds to the mix, making the running game for the Gators even more explosive.   Word: Greenwood stays perfect in week 2.
