What about the Fort Knox Eagles!!!! They have put together a 2-1 start for the first time since 2002 and Wes Arnold’s team put together another great performance coming off a loss to Sayre with a 41-26 win over Eminence. The Eagles got a great performance by quarterback Isaiah Morrison who threw for 250-yards and three touchdowns, while the running game led by Dom Davis ground out 174-yards. Chris Hinds had seven catches for 121-yards and two of those scores, while the defense held Eminence to just 12-yards rushing. Arnold will get a better feel for his team with a game against unbeaten Nicholas County today, but still it’s a reason to howl so far.
Just like in Greensburg last Friday when the Dragons unveiled a brand new turf field as Green County took on Hart County for a huge area matchup against. The Dragons were coming off their best season since 2007 and the Raiders were looking to go 3-0 for the first time since 2015 and it turned out to be quite a game in front of a SRO crowd. Green County finally pulled ahead thanks to a couple of turnovers by the Raiders and the power running of Green County’s Jullian Seymour, but a 20-6 lead didn’t last as the Raiders came roaring back in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Keaton Walters only completed two passes, but they were big ones. Both were to Clark Rexroat and the latter for a touchdown pass that put Hart County up for good 28-20. A great defensive stand held up as the Raiders got a huge win after last year’s loss to these same Dragons.
Elizabethtown continued their winning ways and a long season just continues for John Hardin as the Panthers pounded the Bulldogs 48-6 last week. Elizabethtown stayed unbeaten holding John Hardin to around 50-yards total offense while the Panthers scored at will behind Ryder Gregory’s three touchdown passes a 291-yards rushing as coach Ross Brown looks ahead to today’s trip to Bardstown for a huge first place matchup against the Tigers, who also kept pace with a 62-15 win over Marion County. Coach David Clark’s team will be a great test with their running game against the Panthers rush defense and Elizabethtown’s offense verses Bardstown’s strong rushing defense.
Central Hardin has been averaging nearly 40-points in their 3-0 start this season and their 51-20 win over Apollo was a prime example as the Bruins used a powerful running game grounding out 275-yards and 4-touchdowns (Mason Gardner had 124-yards and 2-TDs), while the defense bent a little, but didn’t break.
Meanwhile, North Hardin learned quickly the importance of special teams as two blocked punts resulted in a couple of scores for DuPont Manuel as they cruised by the Trojans, 33-6.
Coming off the Eagles big power win over Eastern, Bethlehem went on the road and knocked off Thomas Nelson, 49-9. Cooper Stone had 205-yards passing and two scores while Zane Wickliffe ran for 93-yards and two touchdowns.
