Last Week
Danville beat Wayne County 28-24
Allen County-Scottsville defeated Franklin-Simpson 28-7
2019 Meeting
Danville cruised to a 41-13 victory over Allen County behind Caleb Burns’ 151 yards rushing, two touchdowns on the ground, and a kick return for a score. Quarterback Sage Dawson only completed 4-of-10 passes, but it was good enough for 136 yards and two TDs. The Admiral Defense also forced two turnovers on the Patriots.
As for ACS, the Patriots were held to only 243 yards of total offense. Quarterback Trace McIntyre only threw for 129 yards and an interception, while running back Landon Witcher only rushed for 42 yards. Wideout Jax Cooper tallied four catches for 90 yards as one of the few bright spots on the night. Will Moore logged 14 tackles to lead the Patriot D
Preview
Danville travels to Scottsville ranked #7 in Class 2A and coming off of a win over Class 4A #8 Wayne County. Allen County-Scottsville defeated district rival Franklin-Simpson last week to improve to 2-1 and are currently receiving votes in the Class 4A poll. The Patriots will look to win their third straight game after dispatching of their last two opponents by a combined score of 68-7. Danville and Allen County have only played once since KHSAA began keeping records in 1998, a game last season won by Danville, 41-13. The Patriots have improved since last season, bringing a lot of key players back on both sides of the ball. However, Danville does as well. Both squads returned its quarterback, lead running back, and wide receiver.
Check out the tale of the tape (3 game for ACS, 2 games for DHS):
Quarterback
ACS senior Trace McIntyre (26-for-42, 329 yards, 2 TD, 1 Int, 21 rushes, 186 yards, 4 TD)
DHS sophomore Sage Dawson (25-for-40, 321 yards, 2 TD, 2 Int, 17 rushes, 0 yards, 2 TD)
Running Back
ACS senior Landon Witcher (32 carries, 211 yards, 3 TD)
DHS junior Caleb Burns (41 carries, 238 yards, 3 TD)
Wide Receiver
ACS senior Jax Cooper (10 catches, 168 yards, 1 TD)
DHS senior Corydon Crawford (13 catches, 219 yards, 3 TD)
Prediction
Danville 28, Allen County-Scottsville 20
I predict Allen County will give the Admirals all they can handle, but the Admirals will find a way to win it counts. The Patriots have talented offensive weapons, but I believe Danville’s weapons will be a little more on-target Friday night. The Patriots will make it a much closer game than the 2019 affair; however, the Admirals will leave Scottsville with a win.
