Central Hardin proved that they were able to bounce back by overcoming their first loss of the season to Henderson County by putting the wood to Fern Creek, 38-14. Despite several injuries to key personal, the Bruins built a 25-0 lead midway through the second period behind a 23-yard scoring pass from Zack Spurrier to Adam Hobbs, a 12-yard run by Terry Brooks and continued to build on that as the game continued. With their first District game against Barren County on the road, they must continue to stay focused.
District rival Meade County continued to struggle with their second straight loss to Bullitt East, 33-6. The Green Wave had come back from a pandemic shutdown two weeks ago and will travel to North Hardin this Friday Night to try and get back on the winning track.
The Trojans were continuing to have their own problems adjusting to 2021 with their fourth straight loss this time to Class 4 A State Champion Boyle County, 49-6. The Rebels ran up a 21-0 score late in the first half before the Trojans answered with their score on a kickoff return. When the Trojans tried to answer in the third quarter, a blocked punt and a fumble in their own end zone led to 13-points and effectively put the game away.
John Hardin looks to have found the winning track again after a short shutdown and blew out Valley, 70-0. Devon Rogers was 6-for-6 passing for 150-yards and two touchdowns and Keyandre Strand ran for 171-yards and three touchdowns in the win.
Elizabethtown finished off the Nelson County teams last Friday with a 39-12 win over Thomas Nelson last Friday night. Trey Durbin scored first, Greg Hall got the first of his two scores just before the end of the first quarter then again making it 19-0. Elizabethtown made it 26-0 on Ryder Gregory’s touchdown pass to Evan Shelton. After starting 1-3, the Panthers have evened their record at 3-3, but must face the defending Class 3 A champion Ashland Blazer Tomcat’s this Friday.
Bardstown remained perfect with a win over LaRue County although you’d need a calculator to stay up with the scoreboard. The Tigers scored often after a scoreless first quarter and held a 24-8 halftime lead, but the Hawks made a run cutting the deficit to 24-16 early in the third quarter until the Tigers went on another run make it 32-16 and then finally 40-16 early in the fourth.
