Preview

Glasgow and Franklin-Simpson will be looking to build consistency for an upcoming playoff run when they face off Friday night in Franklin. The Wildcats have won consecutive games after losing their first three games of the season. It’s no secret that Franklin likes to run the ball. Max Chaney’s club ran 55 times (compared to five passes) in a 35-28 win over district rival Warren East last week. Branson Andrews led the attack with 88 yards, while Omar Harrison tallied 77 yards. Quarterback Luke Richardson rushed for three scores and threw for another in the win.

The Scotties are led by running back Hunter Scott. His 73 rushes for 461 yards and eight scores are tops on the team. Senior linebacker Mason Bragg leads the team in tackles with 27; Tad Shelton leads Glasgow with four sacks on the season. Glasgow QB John Myers was injured in an October 2 win over Logan County and has not played since then. Freshman Easton Jessie has filled in nicely in Myers’ absence and will be relied upon to facilitate the Scottie offense Friday night.

Prediction

Franklin-Simpson 34, Glasgow 30

DT Glasgow 27, Franklin-Simpson 21

The Scotties and Wildcats played an exciting game last season, and I predict the 2020 game will also be a thriller. Malik Carter was relatively held in check last week against the Raiders, but I think he will break out for a big game and rush for close to 100 yards. The teams will trade leads throughout the first three quarters, setting up an exciting final frame. With the game hanging in the balance, I predict Richardson will connect with Kyjuan Stutzman for a big score to give the Wildcats the lead. Glasgow will seek to rally behind Scott and Andrew Phillips, but the Franklin defense will hold strong.
