The Year in Pictures! Soccer

It was quite a season in both Boys and Girls Soccer in the 5th Region as we saw one champion repeat and another replaced. On the Boys side, there was more parity than usual, but in the end it was once again the 17th District RULES as all four teams (Central Hardin, John Hardin, Elizabethtown and North Hardin) made strong bids and played what turned out to be a mini-5th Region Tourney at Elizabethtown Sports Complex as the first game saw top-seeded Elizabethtown battle Central Hardin in a memorable game which was played during a downpour with the Bruins coming out victorious in a shootout. Panther head coach Corey Yates wasn’t the only coach to watch a great season come to an end when John Hardin fell in the second round against defending champion North Hardin. In the end it was the Bruins, who came out on top in both the District and Region Finals and welcomed a return to the State Tourney. Meanwhile, Bethlehem and Bardstown staged their version of an uprising when the Lady Tigers and Lady Banshees eliminated the powers that were in the 17th District. Bardstown used a tough defense and a miracle shot by Molly Bodkin to beat Elizabethtown, while Bethlehem knocked off Central Hardin in the second game. The Lady Banshees repeated as 5th Region Champs for the third straight year by using a header by Maddie Sparks to complete a 1-0 win over Bardstown.

Central Hardin and Elizabethtown waddled through a monsoon in the District Semi-s.
