The YEAR in PICTURES! Softball
For the third straight season, Central Hardin was the 5th Region softball Champion, but that doesn’t men that there weren’t other stories during the 2017 season. After so many years of being competitive, but not getting over the softball hump, Hart County began to emerge as a power and despite injuries to their starting pitcher were able to create depth as second line hurler Katie Collins stepped up and along with catcher Alexis Milby carried the team to the second round of the Region Tourney. Green County was a s tough as ever and their three games against the Lady Raiders were memorable. Pitcher Haley Mattingly was a gem not allowing any runs during the first two games of the tournament until Central Hardin finally broke through. Despite defections, North Hardin had a fine season with a different cast and their fourth different coach in four seasons. Taylor Thomas had a great senior season up until the end and the one game in which everyone thought would be full of fireworks turned out to be a defensive struggle between Green County and Central Hardin in a 3-2 Lady Bruin win.
