Allen County-Scottsville, Franklin-Simpson continue historic rivalry Friday

Allen County-Scottsville and Franklin-Simpson will continue their historic rivalry Friday night when the two meet at Allen County-Scottsville High School.

The Wildcats lead the all-time series 24-7 dating back to 1974 and have won the last two meetings over the Patriots. In last season’s edition, Franklin won 34-0 in the regular-season before shutting out Allen County 40-0 in the second round of the Class 4A state playoffs. In the first meeting of the year between the two sides, Wildcats running back Saul Brady rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown before recording 137 yards and two TDs in the playoff game.

When the two sides met for the first time in 2016, Franklin-Simpson was 7-0 while Allen County-Scottsville was 4-3. Circumstances are a bit different this time around, as the Patriots are 5-1 and the Wildcats are 3-3.

Allen County, who is off to its best start since 2010, is coming off a 46-7 win at Grayson County last Friday. Quarterback Chase Wilson completed 6-of-10 passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns. Wide receivers Jacob Lightfoot and Cayden Ross each had a TD reception each.

Franklin enters Friday’s contest after a 35-19 victory at Glasgow, a game in which running back Tre Bass threw for 205 yards and three TDs while the Wildcats tallied an astounding 471 yards on the ground.

The Patriots are ranked No. 6 in Class 4A in the latest Kentucky Associated Press poll while the Wildcats are 10th.
