It had been a long season for the Bethlehem Eagles. At one time a 1-A power under coach Ron Kootz, but recently have suffered some hard times this season, Finally, they were able to get some breathing room under new coach Jesse Cantrell after a 42-8 win over Caverna. The Eagles, who were shutout in their previous two games exploded for five first quarter touchdowns and three from Tyler Ohler in the win. It was the Eagles first District win with hopefully more to come.

Meanwhile, Bardstown was dealing with their own problems. After an injury to Jeremy Odom in practice would force David Clark to change strategy a bit, the Tigers were still able to score at will putting up 31-points, but were unable to stop Henry County, who scored 40 in a 40-31 win. The road doesn’t get any easier for the Tigers currently 3-4 and now must travel to face Louisville Central next.

Meade County played well, but still lost to North Hardin. Despite a big performance by runningback Zach Babb, who had 4 touchdowns and 194 yards. The Trojans were able to comeback and take the lead with about four minutes to go and then the defense got a huge stop on fourth and a yard then scored twice in the final 24 seconds to win 40-26. Meade County must now face Central Hardin next at home in their only other District game after losing their third straight game. The Trojans are in a bye week before facing those same Bruins next.

GAMESOF THE WEEK –  LaRue County @ Elizabethtown : Well, this is the game everyone has been waiting for as the unbeaten Hawks travel to Elizabethtown for a first place match. A marvelous clash of personalities and storylines. LaRue County loves to run and use their defense to help set field position. Elizabethtown will use the power of their running game and their star runner Jay Becherer to open things up. Key matchup will be Becherer against the LaRue County secondary as he is a dangerous receiver and is a dangerous punt returner.

Central Hardin @ Meade County : Once again, this is one of the top five games of the season. Both teams love to run and use their powerful defensive lines to control things and set up field position and Mattingly the former Green Wave coach returning to his old stomping grounds is always a fun storyline. Key Matchup – Jay Hobbs against the Green Wave Defense and how the Bruins will slow down Zach Babb, who has 18 touchdowns rushing and catching.
